Bob Nelson is a quadriplegic, and he depends on state-funded rides to get to medical appointments. That’s where he was going in a van in July 2015 when he was suddenly catapulted out of his seat.
“I heard the brakes screech,” he told 5 Investigates’ Kathy Curran. “I was headed to the windshield.”
Nelson was catapulted out of his wheelchair and onto the floor of the medical transportation van. His leg was broken in two places, a stent in his kidney was crushed and an old wound was torn open.
